The presidents of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a resolution yesterday calling on Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas to endorse favorably the creation of a Negros Island Region.
The resolution was signed by Edward Du, NOCCI president, and Frank Carbon, MBCCI president, who presented it at the concluding plenary of the 23 rd Visayas Area Business Conference in Cebu, along with a Negros Island region position paper.
The resolution states that the members and officers of both chapters jointly implore Roxas to favorably endorse the urgent call of the community of the Negros Occidental and Oriental to create a Negros Island Region.
Du said Senator Allan Peter Cayetano, who spoke at the Visayas Area Business Conference, also supports their joint NOCCI-MBCCI resolution.
The joint resolution will be endorsed by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to President Benigno Aquino III during the 44 th Annual Philippine Business Conference in October, Du said.*CPG
