More businessmen in Bacolod city are asking the city government for a reduction in their revenue code rates, Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Frank Carbon said yesterday.
Carbon said they have sought the help of Bacolod Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya and the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod regarding the matter.
When the new revenue code took effect in 2012 during the time of then Mayor and now Bacolod lone District Representative Evelio Leonardia, he said, only the revenue code rates of the manufacturing, retailers, contractors, financial and banking institutions and hospitals were reduced.
Businessmen who are in industries that are not included in the list of those whose rates were reduced had asked MBCCI to help them raise their concern to the city government, he said.
In his letter to Gastaya on July 3, 2014, he said that those who are asking for tax rate reduction were dealers, distributors and retailers of fermented liquors, wines, operators and owners of private cemeteries and memorial parks, real estate lessors and real estate developers.
Restaurant, videoke bars, cafes, ice cream and pizza parlor, night club and disco bar owners are also seeking for the reduction of their tax rates.
Contacted by the DAILY STAR, Gastaya said they have received the letter of
MBCCI and have referred the matter to Councilors An Marie Palermo and Jose
Carlos Lopez, chairmen of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committees on laws, and on
ways and means, respectively.*APN
